It is an honor for me to be, once again, the president of the 35th edition of the Jean-Yves Phaneuf International Soccer Tournament of Granby. We are happy to offer to the teams the opportunity to play on superb quality soccer fields, due among others, to the collaboration of the city of Granby as well as the surrounding cities (Bromont, Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby and Saint Césaire). As usual, it is with a lot of pride and enthusiasm that I welcome all the young players of soccer, accompanying attendants as well to the families of  athletes, to the referees and to all the spectators for this 35th edition.  

The city of Granby and the surrounding cities will vibrate to the rythm of soccer during these 4 days. We have the opportunity to welcome approximately 250 teams, what representing approximately 3800 players from class A and AA, from categories U-12 to U-16 coming from all regions of Quebec and Ontario. Everything is in place to offer to all of these young athletes, their relatives and friends a high level of healthy competition in a climate of pleasure, exchange, sportsmanship and  good fellowship will prevail. We encourage all athletes to be respectful of one another.

All our volunteers work with doggedness in this tournament to make this event a success. I am anxious to thank them personally for their dedication to this community event. Furthermore, the realization of this activity would be impossible without the cooperation of our generous sponsors. In way of appreciation, we wish that you will be many to encourage them. Be assured of the collaboration of all our people of the region of Granby and its surrounding areas,to facilitate your stay among us.

Being solicit to become Honorary President of the 34th edition of the Jean-Yves Phaneuf International Soccer Tournament of Granby was shown to me as real gratitude. I was truly honoured and confirmed with eagerness the acceptance of such invitation to greet and support the young generation of athletes who devote themselves, body and soul, for a great sport "SOCCER".

I have practice several sports and I remember that during important competitions such as this one, it was time for me to perform to the best of my capacities because I had spent a lot of time and a great deal of energy in training and being in top shape. It reminds me of excellent souvenirs, such as taking part of the Jeux du Québec and also the gold medal obtained at the Canadian National Pistol Championships in 1990.

I also remember that even though all essential factors to my success were joined together and my performances allowing me to win medals, priority was for me to have fun in practicing such sport. I have found satisfaction and I am absolutely delighted of my athletic career!

I support all athletes in the practice of their sport and encourage their determination facing their goals and dreams. Have a positive mind and keep good care of yourself, this could only improve your physical and mental health. Discipline and good behaviour learned from the practice of your sport will serve you all your life.

To all of you, I wish an excellent tournament, I sincerely thank all the parents for supporting their children in the practicing of their sport and I wish to compliment all the volunteers who, year after year, collaborate to this sporting success.
